Mapping network drives

Windows can help you connect to a shared network folder and assign a drive letter to the connection, so that you can access the folder using My Computer.

To assign a drive letter to some LAN connection:

  1. On the Tools menu, select Map network drive or click on the Map network drive button on the toolbar.
  2. In the dialog window that appears, specify the drive letter to assign to the connection and the shared folder to associate the drive letter with. Use the Browse button to precisely locate the folder.
  3. If you would like the network drive to appear available every time you logon to Windows, select the option Reconnect at logon.
  4. Click Finish to complete.
